Day 17: Someone you see yourself marrying/being with in the future
Well obviously, there isn’t any certain person at the moment. I’ve been single for over 2 years. Sure, there’s been small relationships and dating in between, but they were short-lived and nothing serious.
I’ve often been laughed at for having a very specific type of guy. I really want to be married once in my life, so I am very particular about the kind of guy I will settle down for. Of course, there is always compromise, but if I were to make my list of the perfect guy, this would be it:
Physically, I prefer a teddy bear. I would like a guy over 6 ft. and over 200 lbs. He should have broad shoulders, square jawline, and resemble someone who could generally open a pickle jar. I’m not really picky when it comes to hair, although I tend to be attracted to bald/buzzed guys that resemble nightclub bouncers or MMA fighters. I actually like facial hair and chest hair. OK, he shouldn’t be like a mastodon, but I think chest hair is sexy. Back hair is my ultimate turn-off. My favorite muscles on a guy are his pecs — gotta have something for my head rest on!
I prefer a man who is a “manly-man” — a guy who likes to fish, watch football and drink beer. However, I want a man who has an appreciation for culture and fine arts. I want a man who can play flag football and then get ready and take me out for wine. Tickets to the ballet or a musical or gallery would be a deal-maker. Someone whose taste in music extends beyond Metallica or Garth Brooks. Someone who can also extend their palate by trying different foods and drinks with me.
I also have various preferences about a man’s background, but if I post those, you will think I’m crazier than you already do.
Which brings me to the most important thing… I want a man who has or is willing to travel. I could not date anyone that hasn’t seen the ocean. I could not date anyone who hasn’t been on a plane. At this point, it would be hard to date anyone that hasn’t left their country. It’s not that I’m a travel snob, I just think there’s much value in someone who has traveled and adventured and pushed themselves beyond their comfort zone. I think it speaks volumes of a person.
I do not want a life of boring. I want a partner who will always push me, challenge me, and encourage me. I want a person who can banter with me, tell me when i’m being a bitch, and love me unconditionally…. even if my legs aren’t shaved.
But most of all, I want a man who can be my best friend. A man I don’t need to keep secrets from because he is involved in everything with me. A man who will listen to my crazy ideas and perhaps join me.
Ah yes… my perfect man. I still have yet to meet him. But when I do… it will be great.
The closest resemblance to this is Agent Booth from the TV show BONES.
